Welcome to My New Chapters

wine-red-unaffect-front

Welcome!  This is my blog about writing, living my life, eating (healthier than ever before), shouting to the world the accomplishments of my brilliant and positively perfect (yet teenage) son, and finally living where I want to live and making it all fall into place.  I am happier than ever before, healthier than ever before, and hoping that this happiness and health will continue to expand forever!

Life is a book (think burnished red leather cover, feather-light and whisper-thin pages, a yard long and a mile wide, weighing at least a ton, and carted around on a forklift or left on a pedestal for reverential page-turning with tweezers).  These are my new chapters in that esteemed book.

These are a few of my favorite things

These are a few of my favorite things:

dirty clothes in basket_full

5.  Dirty clothes overflowing in hampers: This means that we have plentiful amounts of clothes that fit and are good enough to be worn in public.  This means that we have people to be around that matter in our lives, so we want to look good and feel our best around each other.  I am thankful for denim and lace.

4.  Dishes clogging the sink and crowding the countertops: This means that I have a house with a sink and countertops and my dishes are (mostly) in one place and are being used frequently.  This means that I have the time to cook and people to cook for, along with the money needed to purchase delicious and healthy foods by the most frugal methods.  This means that I am able to express myself practically and creatively by putting together flavor combinations that encourage vibrant health (or at least do not contain any GMOs).  I am grateful for dried-on egg whites.

3.  My teenage son’s dirty bedroom: This means that my son is comfortable and happy in his surroundings and is able to be a bit lazy instead of walking on eggshells and worrying about displeasing others.  I am thankful for dirty water glasses and stray socks.

2.  Fleas on the dogs: This means that we are no longer in the desert.  We are at the beach, and there are sand fleas at the beach in the warmer months.  (Yes, December is apparently still warm enough for fleas).  I am thankful for fleas.

essays

1.  Massive, crushing, grading deadlines all stacked up on top of each other.  This means that I have work, lots of work, more work than can possibly be done in 8 hours on a Thursday.  Since assignments are not normally turned in until Tuesdays, and the grading deadlines are usually Thursdays, my work week is short and my work days are long.  I am thankful for caffeine.
